Ray Allen Biothane Multifunction Harness

With all of the different dog harness materials and models on the market, choosing a harness isn’t an easy task. While we love all the products we make and carry, one of our favorite harnesses is the Ray Allen Manufacturing Biothane Multifunction Harness.

As its name suggests, this K9 harness serves a wide variety of purposes. It’s an ideal harness for hunting, search and rescue, bite work, and detection, but it can even be used as an everyday harness when you’re out and about.

A large part of what makes the harness so functional is its one-inch thick biothane construction.

What the Heck Is Biothane?

Biothane is a material composed of a PVC-coated polyester webbing that makes it both durable and waterproof. It’s nearly indestructible (trust us, we’ve tried to destroy it!), and it’ll never crack, tear, or begin to fade over years of use. Plus, it doesn’t require the same amount of maintenance as leather products do.

Along with being incredibly durable, biothane is comfortable for both handlers and their K9s. Biothane doesn’t chafe your working dog’s legs or shoulders while in the harness, and the material affords a no-slip grip, even in pouring rain.

We use biothane in many Ray Allen products, including our collars, leashes, and lines. It’s a fantastic leather alternative that K9 handlers can trust for years.

What Else Sets This Harness Apart from the Pack?

If the material alone wasn’t enough to sell you on the Biothane Multifunction Harness, this piece of equipment has plenty of other features that every K9 handler needs.

First off, this is a side-release harness, meaning it has two brass side clips that easily attach and detach to get your working dog in and out of the harness in seconds. This feature makes it perfect for K9 trainers working with multiple dogs at once.

Speaking of multiple dogs, this harness is perfect for working dogs of all different sizes and breeds. We carry three different sizes: medium, large, and extra-large. Medium fits dogs 26 to 36 inches, large is for 26 to 39 inches, and extra-large is for dogs 37 to 47 inches in girth.

Okay. It’s true that many harnesses come in a variety of sizes. But most of them don’t have a comfortable, fitted breastplate that covers the dog’s chest while they’re in the harness.

Our Biothane Multifunction Harness features a padded and detachable leather breastplate that helps ensure complete comfort and security during K9 training or fieldwork. The breastplate works to displace the dog’s body weight as they load into the harness. No matter how hard your K9 pulls or tugs, they’re sure to stay comfortable in the field.

The breastplate also features a D-ring that allows a K9 handler to attach their Biothane Long Line to the front and run it through the dog’s legs. This is a handy feature during scentwork when the dog needs to keep their nose to the ground.

When your leash or line can’t hold your K9 back, don’t worry. Our biothane harness has a loop handle allowing for ultimate control over your working dog while in the field.
