The Jaded Dog Trainer: Old School Vs. New School Dog Trainers
Jun 7th 2023
It’s been a while since we’ve heard any rants from our friend, The Jaded Dog Trainer. But he’s back by unpopular demand in this week’s YouTube video to vent about the dog gear and dog training practices used by “old timers" these days (aka dog trainers who aren’t millennials).
If you’re familiar with the Jaded Dog Trainer’s sarcastic tone, you’ll understand that he’s kidding about all of this. In actuality, dogs haven’t changed much since humans started training them thousands of years ago. And, for the most part, humans haven’t changed the way we train dogs, either.
We still use most of the same training methods in 2023 that were written in a dog training book by Col. Konrad Most in 1934. And although some of the materials we use to make dog training gear have advanced in 75 years, we still use most of the same equipment, like tug toys, bite suits, and treat pouches (like our new Dog Trainer Fanny Pack).
So, whether you’re an “old school” trainer or are fresh out of a police K9 training academy, you’ll be using the same training methods and nearly identical equipment.
Be sure to watch the video to learn a little bit more about this topic and to get a perspective on the K9 industry that you won’t hear from many other trainers out there. After all, most of dog trainers aren’t jaded.
