K9 Spotlight: Justin Rigney of K9 Services Unlimited

We’re back again with another K9 Spotlight Interview, where we give you an insider look at some of the most badass K9 trainers in the world. In this week’s interview, we were fortunate enough to sit down with Justin Rigney, the founder of K9 Services Unlimited.

Justin’s interest in dog training began at a young age when his family’s adopted German Shepherd tried alerting his family of a home invasion. But instead of interpreting his dog’s barks as a sign of danger, his family simply tried calming him down. Since then, Justin has never ignored his dogs’ behavior.

Fast forward a few decades: Justin now has 30 years of experience in the K9 industry, including 17 years of work in the Davie Police Department K9 unit, where he worked with three different dogs throughout his career. After retiring from law enforcement, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and opened K9 Services Unlimited.

In addition to training dogs, Justin places a major emphasis on continuing education in the K9 field by learning from other professionals and teaching up-and-comers what he already knows.
