A year and a half ago, our family set out looking for a family dog. We had previous experience with German Shepherds, so we started watching local rescue groups to see what would pop up. We saw this Belgian Malinois with a local rescue and set up a time to meet her. Long story short, she came home with us that night, and she hasn’t left our side since. She’s the perfect active companion and goes everywhere with me. When the scared, previously stray, shelter-shocked side of her wore off, I started researching ways to satisfy her need for a job. She’s really into using her nose, so we started training for human remains detection! She’s excelling at that training. In the last 18 months, we’ve hiked and run hundreds of miles. I’m very lucky to have her in my life.
