Sirius Breaker Bar: The Ultimate K9 Bite Release Tool
Apr 27th 2022
Military and police apprehension dogs go through thousands of hours of K9 bite training to perfect their craft. While all of that training helps ensure working dogs can chase down bad guys, a few problems can arise after the suspect has been taken down.
One of the most commonly reported issues with using police K9s is that they don’t always release their bite when given their “out” command by the handler. Thankfully, the team at Sirius K9 invented the Breaker Bar.
Protect Suspects and Reduce Police Department Liability
We all want to catch the bad guys, and our police dogs are always ready and willing to tackle the job!
The bad news is that suspects can potentially file a lawsuit when German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, or any other hardcore K9s hold their bite too long and injure their targets.
The Breaker Bar is designed to instantly get your working dog to release their bite, mitigating injuries to the suspect and drastically reducing the chance of a lawsuit.
When a hardcore K9 doesn’t lift off their bite, handlers can easily slip the Breaker Bar into the dog’s mouth and push it towards the back of their throat to engage the gag reflex.
Even the most badass biters will naturally release their grip when their gag reflex is triggered, allowing K9 handlers to easily lift the dog off the suspect and put them back in the police car transport insert.
Keep Bite Decoys Safe During Training
If you think the Breaker Bar is just designed for fieldwork, think again! This tool is essential when you’re working on bite training with a defenseless decoy.
Even if your decoy is wearing one of our full bite suits or a heavy-duty hard bite sleeve, they’re going to get a little uncomfortable if your K9 doesn’t release their bite when given the out command.
Since the Bite Breaker is guaranteed to get a working dog to release, every bite training decoy will be thankful that a K9 handler has this tool on them. And they’ll be even more grateful that the piece opens and is ready to use in a split second.
The Bite Breaker is shaped like a pocket knife and has nearly the same functionality (besides the razor-sharp blade). All a dog trainer or K9 handler has to do is grip the handle and flip open the paddle before sliding it into their dog’s mouth.
After the attack dog releases their bite, handlers can quickly close the tool and slide it back onto their Trainer’s Belt or tactical pants, thanks to the clip on the handle.
And just like with fieldwork, lifting your K9 off the decoy and returning them to their crate or kennel will be a breeze.
Completely Safe For Your K9
As with every product we sell or manufacture, the Breaker Bar is 100% safe for your working dog. While the paddle does trigger your attack dog’s gag reflex to get them to release their bite, you can trust that it won’t cause any harm or undue stress.
The Breaker Bar makes things easier on your K9 because there’s no need to pull back on their leash, turn up the intensity dial on their E-Collar, or repeatedly yell their out command while in the field or during training.
