Nov 21st 2024
Ray Allen Manufacturing has long been a trusted source for top-quality working dog equipment, and our new sub-brand, Peak by Ray Allen, continues that legacy with innovative designs tailored for adventure and training. The launch of the Pikes Harness and the Quandary Harness has many customers asking: which one is best for my dog? Here, we’ll break down the features and benefits of each active dog harness to help you make the right choice.
Small Dog Harness, Made in the USA
We set out to design Peak by Ray Allen line because we wanted to fulfill multiple needs. First, we wanted to continue the Made in the USA tradition by designing and sewing everything in our factory in Colorado Springs, CO.
Next, we wanted to have a lower priced options for quality dog gear. We know that many of you aren't jumping out of helicopters with your dog, but that doesn't mean you should settle for some cheap imitation gear that will fall apart in a week.
Finally, we wanted a good option for small dogs. Most of our products are designed for working dogs, which tend to be smaller breeds, but that was leaving out the little pups. We know that many of you have multiple dogs, so we wanted to make sure your best friend's best friend has quality gear.
Pikes Harness: Active Pet Harness Designed for Adventure
The Pikes Harness is a versatile, lightweight adventure harness inspired by the design of our popular MHU harness. Named after the iconic Pike’s Peak, America’s Mountain, this active pet harness embodies strength and adaptability.
One of the key features of the Pikes harness is that it has an adjustable chest plate. When you combine that with the two sets of straps, this is great for dogs with longer torsos because it allows you to adjust for a snug fit across the body. Another differentiator of the Pikes Harness is that it has a suitcase handle on top. Just because a small dog isn't used in a tactical situation doesn't mean they can't train like they are!
The Pikes Harness is perfect for longer torso breeds or more active dogs looking for a harness with handle that’s an adventure-ready option. It provides the flexibility to add accessories while maintaining a lightweight, non-tactical design.
Meet the Quandary Harness: Simplicity Meets Functionality
The Quandary Harness is a streamlined alternative for shorter torso or stockier breeds, and it was designed with simplicity in mind. This makes it ideal for breeds like French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, and English Bulldogs.
Unlike the Pikes, the Quandary has a more minimalist design. It uses a single strap for more compact fit, and that works well on shorter, stockier dogs. It also has a
The Quandary Harness is the go-to option for shorter, broader dogs or those who prefer an active dog harness in a lightweight, low-profile design.
How Are They Similar?
Now that we've covered the differences, let's talk about the similarities that these two harnesses have. They both have four inches of Velcro panels on top for patches, and one inch on each side for accessories like backpacks and water bottle carriers. We also used heavy-duty hardware with two V-rings to ensure durability during active use.
Both are available in small, medium, and large (with XL and XXL sizes in development for larger breeds like Golden Retrievers and Malinois), and you can choose from four colors: Multicam, Ranger Green, Coyote, and Black.
