In the fall of 2020 during a “Drinks and Dogs” podcast with Oscar Mora (trainer and decoy), we discussed creating a realistic protection sport that was fair, consistent, and most importantly, professional in all aspects from presentation, judging, and in pay! We discussed other sports, their merits, things we would change and improve on. And just like that, K9 Street League was born.

In the early stages, it was a pipe dream. Where would we start? Would anyone join? We did our first trial and instantly knew we had created something that handlers, trainers, decoys and K9s could enjoy. We wanted to make sure we made it practical, challenging and most of all, a damn good time. Those first trials we learned, adapted and made strides to give the people in the dog world what they wanted; a sport that had no gatekeeping, win money for the effort and time, and the big one, decoys to be paid.

K9SL has one major goal, to improve the dog sport world while creating a positive environment and culture. Culture is defined by “the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively” and we did that with Street League. K9 Street League is not here to participate, it is here to take over.
