The Narcotics Odor Print Kit comes with one of each of the following Odor Prints; heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and cocaine.
Each Narcotic Odor Print by Precision Explosives is made using Getxent Technology, intended to serve as a training aid for narcotics detection K9 training. This allows the dog handler to have access to real narcotic odors without causing any harm to the K9. Each odor print is designed to be inexpensive and long lasting, making them convenient and accessible to all.
The Odor Print is built with the cellulose medium (scent) sealed in between two aluminum plates that are riveted together, with no adhesives used in the process. And unlike other products, the Precision Explosive Odor Prints have a larger surface area allowing more available odor than pouring powders into a scent tin or bag. Other “real” odor products produce significantly less vapor pressure.
As a quality measure to protect the Odor Print from other target odors and human odors, the assembly is performed with gloved hands in a clean environment. To prevent contamination, it is recommended that any contact with the Odor Print be made while wearing sterile gloves. Using a scent tin, Egyptian cotton bags or other barrier to prevent direct contact with the Odor Print is recommended. The aluminum protective plates can be cleaned with a cloth, but it is not advised that anything come in contact with the media between the aluminum protective plates.
When used and stored properly each Odor Print should last for about a year no matter how much you train with it. The only requirement is to keep it stored in the provided packaging, when not in use. The packaging is a re-sealable metallized Mylar envelope to minimize the volume and prevent permeation through the envelope. This further extends the shelf life of the Odor Print and prevents any contamination. A recent lab test showed that only the target odor was present on a four-month-old Odor Print that had been handled extensively. The sample was used in training, handled by multiple individuals, and stored in a vehicle to simulate real life exposure.
No storage requirements, no DEA licenses, or specific qualifications are needed to purchase these scent detection training aids.
