K9 Scent Detection Training | Odor Delivery System | TADD®

What is the TADD®?
Most simply, it's a container that lets the odor of your training aid out, but not the training aid. And frankly, it's way more than that... Read below to see what the TADD® is capable of and how the product is revolutionizing scent detection training.

SciK9, LLC has developed a unique Training Aid Delivery Device (TADD®) that is unlike any other odor delivery and containment device you have used. When purchasing the SciK9 Plastic TADD® Jars, it is vital that you read the instructions on how to load, use, and clean your TADD® to ensure you get the longest service life and best experience.

*** Ray Allen Manufacturing has been chosen to be the exclusive US distributor of TADD®, by SciK9 ***

The Plastic TADD® Jars may become deformed in extreme temperatures (e.g. >150F/65C).

The SciK9 TADD® Connector (sold separately) can be used to join two jars together to develop training aids for K9 imprinting. In this closed system, you are able to connect one TADD® Jar containing your target odor, along with a second jar that contains your odor substrate which will then become your training aid.

All components of the TADD® are:

  • NASA Outgassing Compliant* to be extremely low odor, so the only scent you train your dog on is the training aid
  • Inert and highly compatible with most training aids
  • Rugged enough for daily use and training
  • Capable of being decontaminated and deodorized of human scent or environmental odors
Key Features:
  • Storage, containment, and odor delivery in one simple device
  • Controls the odor disbursement without allowing the training aid to exit the jar
  • 3 components to the TADD® seal and container lid
    • Gas-tight chemical-resistant gasket
    • Hydrophobic and oleophobic membrane
    • Custom polypropylene membrane holder with a safety grid to prevent membrane puncture
  • Safely holds liquids, oils, solids, small particulate, including even harsh hazmat solutions
  • Reduces cross-contamination
  • Extends the shelf-life of training aids
  • Maintains odor integrity while preventing contamination spills
  • Only odor delivery system on the market that can be cleaned after use without compromising the training aid
  • You can bury the TADD® container in sand, soil, and rubble piles
  • Submerge in lakes, rivers, and toilet tanks (up to 9 feet deep, without being compromised)
  • Easily hides in vehicles, warehouses, luggage, cargo, buildings, open areas, and medical settings
  • Designed and manufactured in USA

ATTENTION: The TADD® is intended to be loaded only once, for the life of the training aid!

This is because once the TADD® membrane holder (containing the odor permeable membrane and gasket) is screwed onto the jar, the manufacturer cannot guarantee that those three pieces will all screw together seamlessly (at the same time and under the same torque) upon subsequent applications on and off the jar. This can compromise the seals and functioning of the TADD®. Re-use is not advised.

How To Load Your TADD®:
  • During any part of the process, it is recommended to use nitrate based gloves, preventing any unneccessary human odor displacement.
  • Remove Plastic TADD® Jar from packaging
  • Remove and discard blue divider paper
    • Found between the membrane assembly (black lid) and the plastic jar
  • Load the plastic jar with your training aid
    • DO NOT load jar more than 50% with liquids or 75% with solids
  • Close TADD® Jar with the membrane assembly (black lid)
  • Screw on containment top (white lid)

Note: Do not load or store TADD® in a way that contents are in constant contact with the membrane, as this will decrease the life of your TADD®.

How To Use Your TADD®:
  • Visually inspect TADD® before and after use to look for signs of damage or wear
  • Remove the containment top (white lid), ensuring that you hold tightly onto the membrane assembly (black lid), as the membrane lid should remain sealed onto the plastic jar
  • Once the containment top is removed, the membrane assembly grid will be exposed, releasing odor from the TADD®

*All materials pass the NASA low outgassing test (ASTM E595). Developed by NASA to screen low outgassing materials for use in spacecraft, the test determines the volatile content of material samples placed in a heated vacuum chamber. If the collected volatile condensable materials (CVCM) is < 0.1 % and total mass lost (TML) is <1 %, then the material passes the NASA criteria for low-outgassing.
